The eight charges most often added after a Delhi hair transplant quote are GST, extra grafts on the day, technique upgrades, pre-surgery blood tests, medicines and aftercare kits, PRP or GFC sessions, paid follow-ups and touch-ups, and EMI fees. Together they typically add 20–30% to the headline price — more if the graft count grows.

Delhi NCR has more hair transplant clinics than any other Indian region, and competition is fought on the headline price. The cheapest way to win that fight is to quote only the surgery and add everything else later. None of the charges below is unusual or improper in itself. What makes them "hidden" is when they are left out of the quote you compared
Here is how a typical Delhi quote for 2,000 grafts at ₹70 per graft can grow:

The figures are illustrative and use 18% GST; clinics charging 5% GST would add less. The point is the pattern: a quote that looked ₹20,000 cheaper than a competitor's all-inclusive price can end up costing more.
Many Delhi quotes are written "+ GST" or say nothing about tax at all. Hair transplant is not GST-exempt, and clinics currently charge either 5% or 18% depending on how they classify the procedure. On a ₹1,40,000 surgery, that is ₹7,000 or ₹25,200.
Ask: "Is GST included? At what rate?" Compare tax-inclusive totals only. A Delhi clinic's GSTIN starts with 07 — check that it is printed on the quote.
You are quoted 2,000 grafts. On the day, after shaving and marking, you are told you need 2,500. At ₹70 per graft, that is ₹35,000 more, decided while you are already in the chair. Sometimes the change is clinically justified; often it is not discussed until it is too late to walk away.

The quote says FUE. At the clinic you hear that Sapphire blades, a Choi pen, DHI or a "premium graft storage solution" would give a better result — for an extra ₹10 to ₹40 per graft. On 2,000 grafts that is ₹20,000 to ₹80,000.
Ask: "Which technique is included at this price, and which instruments will be used?" If a better technique genuinely suits you, the clinic should say so at consultation, not in the operating theatre. At Ryan Clinic, Sapphire FUE is the standard technique, not an upgrade.
Every hair transplant needs basic blood work — typically a complete blood count, blood sugar, kidney function, clotting tests (PT/INR), and screening for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Pre-operative panels at Delhi NCR labs cost roughly ₹1,400 to ₹3,500. Some clinics include them; many bill them separately or send you to a partner lab.
Ask: "Are pre-surgery tests included? Can I use reports from my own lab if they are recent?"
After surgery you will need antibiotics, painkillers, anti-inflammatories, a gentle shampoo and sometimes a lotion or spray. Clinics often sell these as a kit for ₹2,000 to ₹6,000. Long-term medication such as finasteride or minoxidil is a separate, ongoing monthly cost.
Ask: "Is the post-operative kit included? Can I buy the prescribed medicines from any pharmacy?" Medicines carry GST inside the MRP, so you should never be charged GST on top of MRP.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and its concentrated form, GFC, are often recommended after a transplant to support healing and growth. In Delhi they cost roughly ₹3,000 to ₹15,000 per session, usually sold in courses of three to six. Exosome therapy is marketed at higher prices still. These treatments can be useful for some patients, but they are optional add-ons, not part of the surgery.
Ask: "Is PRP or GFC included in this quote? If recommended, how many sessions, at what price each, and what evidence is there that I need it?" If you do want PRP, compare it as a separate priced service — see our PRP treatment page.
The first wash is usually done at the clinic a day or two after surgery. Follow-ups at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months are how the doctor checks growth. Some clinics charge ₹500 to ₹1,500 per visit. Others offer a low price for surgery and charge heavily for a "touch-up" session if density disappoints.
Ask: "How many follow-ups are included, and for how long? Is there a charge for a density touch-up if the result falls short?
0% EMI" rarely means zero cost. Lenders usually charge a processing fee plus 18% GST on it. On credit-card "no-cost" EMI, the clinic's discount typically covers the interest, but the bank still charges GST on the interest component. Expect a few hundred to a few thousand rupees in total.
Ask: "Which bank or lender, what is the processing fee, and will I pay anything beyond the procedure price?
• Non-refundable booking deposits. Paying ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 to "lock" a price or date is common. Ask whether it is refundable if blood tests rule you out, and get the answer in writing.
• Per-hair quotes. A price per hair looks lower than a price per graft. A graft carries about 2 to 2.3 hairs, so convert every per-hair quote to grafts before comparing.
Ask every clinic for the same itemised list, in writing, before you pay any deposit. A complete quote shows:
1. Graft count and technique (FUE, Sapphire FUE, DHI)
2. Per-graft rate or package price, and the maximum grafts without your written consent
3. GST rate and amount, and the clinic's GSTIN
4. Pre-surgery tests — included or price
5. Medicines and aftercare kit — included or price
6. PRP or GFC — included, optional with price, or not offered
7. First wash, follow-ups and any touch-up policy
8. EMI lender, processing fee and total payable
9. Deposit amount and refund conditions
10. The name of the doctor who will perform the surgery
Copy and send this to any clinic on WhatsApp:
"Please send me an itemised, all-inclusive written quote showing: graft count, technique, per-graft rate, maximum grafts without my consent, GST rate and amount, blood tests, medicines, PRP/GFC, first wash, follow-ups, EMI fees, deposit refund terms, and the doctor performing the surgery. • No graft count, or a count in hairs rather than grafts
• "Unlimited grafts" without a guaranteed minimum
• No GSTIN on the quote, or an offer to "skip GST" for cash
• No named doctor — or vague answers about who performs extraction and implantation

Start with the paperwork: your written quote, WhatsApp messages, invoice and payment receipts. Then:
1. Raise it in writing with the clinic and ask for the charge to be removed or explained against your quote.
2. Rely on the ethics rule on fees. Indian medical ethics regulations expect a doctor to announce fees before rendering a service, not after an operation is under way.
3. Contact the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 for mediation.
4. File a consumer complaint online through the e-Daakhil portal. The Supreme Court has held that medical services fall within Indian consumer law, and unagreed charges or misleading "no hidden cost" claims can be challenged there.

Typically 20 to 30% of the headline price. A ₹1,40,000 quote for 2,000 grafts can become about ₹1,75,000 with GST, tests, medicines, follow-ups and EMI fees, and over ₹2,18,000 if 300 grafts and a PRP course are added.
Not usually. PRP and GFC are generally optional add-ons costing roughly ₹3,000 to ₹15,000 per session in Delhi, often sold in courses of three to six. Ask whether PRP is included, and if it is recommended, how many sessions and at what price.
It depends on the clinic. Pre-operative panels covering blood count, sugar, kidney function, clotting and HIV, hepatitis B and C screening cost about ₹1,400 to ₹3,500 at Delhi NCR labs. Ask whether they are included or whether recent reports from your own lab are accepted.
