A 2000 graft hair transplant in Delhi costs ₹40,000 to ₹3,00,000 depending on the clinic tier, because per-graft rates run from ₹20 to ₹150. A doctor-led Sapphire FUE at ₹55–₹80 per graft works out to ₹1,10,000–₹1,60,000 before 18% GST. 2000 grafts covers about 50 cm² — a hairline and frontal zone, not a full scalp.
Key points :
Delhi per-graft rates range from ₹20 to ₹150; the rate, not the graft count, is what makes quotes differ tenfold
At ₹65 per graft, 2000 grafts is ₹1,30,000 plus ₹23,400 GST — a real bill of about ₹1,53,400
2000 grafts implanted at 40 per cm² covers roughly 50 cm², enough for a hairline and frontal third
In Indian hair, 2000 grafts is about 4,000–4,400 hairs, because most Indian follicular units carry 2 hairs
2000 grafts suits Norwood 2 and most Norwood 3 patients; Norwood 4 and above usually needs 2,800 or more
Blood tests, medication and GST are commonly quoted separately — ask for one written all-inclusive figure
How much does a 2000 graft hair transplant cost in Delhi?
Between ₹40,000 and ₹3,00,000. That range is not vagueness; it is the actual spread of the Delhi market, and it exists because clinics charge per graft at wildly different rates for wildly different levels of surgeon involvement.
Here is what 2000 grafts costs at each tier, before GST:
Clinic tier | Per-graft rate | 2000 grafts (ex-GST) | With 18% GST | Who actually operates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Budget / high-volume chain | ₹20–₹30 | ₹40,000–₹60,000 | ₹47,200–₹70,800 | Technicians, surgeon supervises or visits |
Mid-market clinic | ₹35–₹50 | ₹70,000–₹1,00,000 | ₹82,600–₹1,18,000 | Mixed: doctor plans, technicians extract and implant |
Doctor-led Sapphire FUE | ₹55–₹80 | ₹1,10,000–₹1,60,000 | ₹1,29,800–₹1,88,800 | Surgeon performs extraction and implantation |
Premium / named surgeon | ₹90–₹150 | ₹1,80,000–₹3,00,000 | ₹2,12,400–₹3,54,000 | Senior surgeon, smaller daily case load |
Two clinics quoting “2000 grafts” can therefore be quoting bills seven times apart. The graft count is the same. What you are buying with the higher rate is who holds the punch and who places the graft — which is the variable most strongly associated with graft survival and hairline naturalness.
Almost never everything. A per-graft rate normally covers the surgery, the operating theatre, anaesthesia and the surgical team. It usually excludes:
18% GST, because a hair transplant done for appearance is a cosmetic procedure and is taxable
Pre-surgery blood tests — ₹1,200–₹2,500 at most Delhi labs
Take-home medication for 2–4 weeks — ₹1,500–₹4,000
Post-operative PRP or GFC sessions, if recommended — ₹6,000–₹15,000 per session
Non-shaven or no-shave technique, if you need it — commonly 20–40% more
Graft overrun on surgery day, charged at the same per-graft rate
The last one matters most. If a surgeon plans 2000 and extracts 2,400 because the recipient area needs it, at ₹65 per graft that is ₹26,000 more plus GST. Agree in writing, before surgery, the maximum graft count that can be added without a fresh conversation.
A worked example at a doctor-led Delhi clinic charging ₹65 per graft for Sapphire FUE:
Line item | Amount |
|---|---|
2000 grafts at ₹65 | ₹1,30,000 |
18% GST on the procedure | ₹23,400 |
Pre-surgery blood tests | ₹1,800 |
Medication, 3 weeks | ₹2,500 |
Follow-up consultations (usually included) | ₹0 |
Realistic total | ₹1,57,700 |
Optional: 2 PRP sessions at ₹8,000 | +₹18,880 with GST |
Round figure: about ₹1.5 to ₹1.6 lakh, all in, at a doctor-led Delhi clinic. If a quote comes in far below that, the question is not “why are they cheaper” but “who is doing the surgery, and at what density”.
About 50 cm² — roughly the area of a standard postcard.
The maths is simple. Indian surgeons typically implant at 35–45 grafts per cm² in a single session. At 40 grafts per cm², 2000 grafts covers 50 cm². The frontal hairline zone plus the area immediately behind it is usually 45–60 cm², which is why 2000 is such a common number for frontal work.
In hairs, not grafts: Indian follicular units average about 2.0–2.2 hairs each, so 2000 grafts delivers roughly 4,000 to 4,400 hairs. Clinics that advertise “4,000 hairs” for the price of 2000 grafts are describing the same surgery in a bigger-sounding unit.
Goal | Realistic with 2000 grafts? |
|---|---|
Rebuild a receding hairline and temples | Yes, comfortably |
Hairline plus frontal third at good density | Yes |
Frontal third plus a thinning mid-scalp | Only at reduced density, or as stage one of two |
Crown alone | Yes, but usually thin — the crown’s whorl pattern needs high density |
Front and crown together | No. Expect a patchy result |
Full coverage from Norwood 5 or 6 | No |
It depends on your Norwood stage, not your budget.
Norwood stage | Typical grafts needed | Is 2000 enough? |
|---|---|---|
Norwood 2 | 800–1,500 | More than enough |
Norwood 3 | 1,500–2,200 | Usually yes |
Norwood 3 Vertex | 2,000–2,800 | Only if the crown is left for later |
Norwood 4 | 2,500–3,500 | No — plan for 3000+ |
Norwood 5 | 3,500–4,500 | No |
Norwood 6–7 | 4,500–7,000+ | No, and may need two sessions |
Two things decide the real number: how much scalp is bald, and how much donor hair you have to spend. A surgeon counts donor density in hairs per cm² over the back and sides before committing to any figure. A quote given over WhatsApp from a photo is a guess.

At a doctor-led ₹65 per graft, including 18% GST:
Grafts | Ex-GST | With GST | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
1500 | ₹97,500 | ₹1,15,050 | Hairline only, Norwood 2 |
2000 | ₹1,30,000 | ₹1,53,400 | Hairline and frontal third, Norwood 3 |
2500 | ₹1,62,500 | ₹1,91,750 | Frontal zone with mid-scalp blending |
3000 | ₹1,95,000 | ₹2,30,100 | Norwood 4, front plus partial crown |
Many Delhi clinics drop the per-graft rate above 2,500 grafts — a slab rate rather than a flat one. If you are close to a slab boundary, ask for the rate at both counts. Going from 2,400 to 2,600 grafts sometimes costs less in total, not more.
Marginally, and rarely enough to justify travelling for it.
City | Doctor-led rate per graft | 2000 grafts with GST |
|---|---|---|
Delhi NCR | ₹55–₹80 | ₹1,29,800–₹1,88,800 |
Mumbai | ₹60–₹90 | ₹1,41,600–₹2,12,400 |
Hyderabad | ₹45–₹70 | ₹1,06,200–₹1,65,200 |
Turkey (package) | — | ₹1,90,000–₹3,20,000 plus flights and hotel |
Hyderabad is typically the cheapest of the three Indian metros and Mumbai the most expensive, tracking local rent and salary costs rather than surgical quality. Turkish packages look competitive only until you add travel, and almost all of them are technician-performed. Ryan Clinic operates in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad at the same protocol in each city.
On a ₹1,50,000 bill under a genuine no-cost EMI:
Tenure | Monthly instalment | Extra you actually pay |
|---|---|---|
6 months | ₹25,000 | about ₹1,730 |
12 months | ₹12,500 | about ₹2,660 |
The “extra” is 18% GST on the bank’s interest plus a processing fee. No-cost EMI is not free — it is a loan whose interest is offset by a clinic discount, and on a credit card the GST on that interest is still yours to pay. Before you choose EMI, ask one question: is the price the same if I pay upfront? If a 5% cash discount exists, taking EMI costs you ₹7,500 to save ₹2,660.
At ₹20 per graft, 2000 grafts is ₹40,000. That is a genuinely tempting number, and it is the most common route into a repair case.
Volume clinics run on technicians. Extraction and implantation decide graft survival. Handing both to a non-surgeon is where transection rates climb.
The quote grows on the day. Graft counts, “advanced” implanters and PRP get added after you are in the chair.
Density is quietly reduced. Spreading 2000 grafts over 80 cm² instead of 50 cm² looks like coverage in a photo and like thinning in daylight.
Repair costs more than the original. Correcting a pluggy hairline or an overharvested donor area typically costs 1.5 to 2 times the first surgery, and some damage cannot be undone.
A price article should say this plainly. Do not book 2000 grafts if:
You are under 25 with actively progressing loss. Transplanted hair is permanent; the hair behind it is not. Operating before the pattern stabilises produces a stranded island of hair in five years.
You have not tried medication. Finasteride and minoxidil protect existing hair. Surgery does not stop hair loss anywhere else on the scalp.
Your loss is diffuse rather than patterned. Diffuse thinning, alopecia areata and telogen effluvium need diagnosis, not grafts.
Your donor density is low. Fewer than about 60 hairs per cm² in the donor area limits what can safely be harvested in a lifetime.
Every surgery at Ryan Clinic is planned and performed by the doctors, which includes telling patients when the answer is “not yet.
Ryan Clinic performs 2000-graft Sapphire FUE as a single-day, doctor-performed procedure in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Between ₹40,000 and ₹3,00,000, because per-graft rates in Delhi run from ₹20 to ₹150. A doctor-led Sapphire FUE at ₹55–₹80 per graft costs ₹1,10,000–₹1,60,000 before 18% GST, or roughly ₹1.3–₹1.9 lakh after tax.
For Norwood 2 and most Norwood 3 patients, yes. 2000 grafts covers about 50 cm² — a hairline and frontal third at normal density. Norwood 4 and above usually needs 2,800 to 4,500 grafts, sometimes across two sessions.
About 50 cm², assuming a standard implantation density of 40 grafts per cm². That is enough for a receding hairline and the area just behind it. Spreading the same 2000 grafts over 80 cm² produces visible thinness.
Roughly 4,000 to 4,400. Indian follicular units usually contain two hairs, sometimes three. A clinic advertising “4,000 hairs” is describing about 2000 grafts, not 4,000 grafts.
Yes. A hair transplant performed to improve appearance is treated as a cosmetic procedure and attracts 18% GST. On ₹1,30,000 of surgery that is ₹23,400. Always ask whether a quoted price is inclusive or exclusive of GST.
On a ₹1,50,000 bill, no-cost EMI works out to about ₹25,000 a month over 6 months or ₹12,500 a month over 12 months, plus roughly ₹1,700–₹2,700 in GST on interest and processing fees.
Because the surgery is performed by technicians rather than a surgeon, or at lower density over a wider area. The graft count is identical; the cost difference is in who operates and how carefully the grafts are handled.
Yes. 2000 grafts is a routine single-day session of roughly 6 to 8 hours under local anaesthesia. Sessions above about 3,500 grafts are the ones more often split across two days.
